Nick Jonas gave us the first taste of his upcoming solo album on Thursday (July 24), and he made one thing very clear: It’s not going to sound a damn thing like “Lovebug.”
Quite the opposite, in fact: His just-released “Chains” is drenched in S&M and rather adult themes straight out of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” It’s all about a girl who’s got him in — you guessed it — chains for her love — but we’re guessing that’s not just a metaphor.
The track’s already gotten some stellar reviews from fans, who have patiently been waiting to hear new music from Nick since the Jonas Brothers announced their breakup last year.

After the brothers broke the news in October, Nick teased that he still plans to release music and to do theater; he even went on to become the creative director on Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights Tour. And MTV News caught up with Nick this week, when he revealed more in a sit-down interview, so stick with us for more scoop.
