Lucy was the queen of the box office this weekend.
The action film that stars Scarlett Johansson cruised to No. 1 after taking in an impressive $44 million in its opening weekend, Box Office Mojoreports.
It was enough to top Hercules , which also debuted this weekend. The latest film to star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had a soft opening, coming in at No. 2 with $29 million.

After two weeks in the top spot, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes fell to No. 3 this weekend with $16.4 million, followed by The Purge: Anarchy with $9.9 million.
At No. 5 was Planes: Fire & Rescue with $9.3 million.
Sex Tape earned $5.9 million for a sixth-place finish in its second week in theaters, while Transformers: Age of Extinction dropped to No. 7 with $4.6 million.
The Michael Douglas-Diane Keaton rom-com And So It Goes opened at No. 8 with $4.5 million, and Tammy dropped to No. 9 with $3.4 million.
A Most Wanted Man , featuring Philip Seymour Hoffman in his last leading role, debuted at No. 10 with $2.7 million.
