The father of missing actress Misty Upham fears his daughter "wasn't in her right mind" when she was last seen leaving her sister's apartment on Oct. 5. She told her family she was going to visit friends, and hasn't been seen since.

"She had recently changed her medication, so she was sort of having erratic behavior, Charles Upham tells The Hollywood Reporter. "She told me and her mom that we didn't have to worry about her any more. … I thought it sounded suicidal myself, so I called the police. She's always been a suicidal person."

Upham, a 32-year-old Native-American actress and activist, is best known for her roles in the films Frozen River and August: Osage County. Police responded to a suicide call to her sister's apartment in Muckleshoot, Washington Oct. 5, but Upham was not there when they arrived.

"She used to make [suicide] threats sometimes, but she never went through with it.," Charles Upham said of his daughter. She and her parents had been living in Los Angeles until June, when they moved to the Seattle area so Charles Upham could receive rehab following a stroke.

Upham's father doesn't think she was depressed about leaving L.A., saying she was able to get "a lot of work" in Washington. However, he says they were unable to find a psychiatrist in Seattle, so his daughter was getting the same medical care she was used to.

"She had a medical team in L.A and she was doing fine, but that team couldn't continue in Washington," Charles Upham says.

He adds that he has never been away from his daughter for this long.

"I think that she is either in a place where she cant' get help – maybe she fell down and broke her leg and something, or she got in with the wrong crowd," he says. "I don't think she would have taken her own life. I don't want to think she is dead."

In 2008, Upham was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for Frozen River, in which she played an illegal immigrant trafficker. She played the family housekeeper in August: Osage County. She is also set to appear in the upcoming Jennifer Aniston drama Cake .
