IMITATION might be the sincerest form of flattery, but it didn’t earn a 16-year-old Baltimore girl any praise from Rihanna.
Alexis Carter wanted to have fun at her Hollywood-themed prom dressed as her former idol, but just ended up being cyber bullied, including two mocking tweets from the Umbrella singer herself, reports Fox Baltimore.
The high school student and a family friend designed the dark green outfit, which featured a plunging neckline and “wing-like” panels that closely resembled an ensemble the singer wore to a 2010 event.

At first the reception was positive, with classmates telling Carter they respected her doing something different, but when pictures of the teen spread on social media, things change and the hashtag #PromBat was quick to trend.
Making matters worse, two of the offending posts came from Carter’s former idol.

— Rihanna (@rihanna) May 9, 2014 “I was very offended,” she told the news station. “Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing. The poses were different but the outfit wasn’t.”

— Yeroc Ydoom (@CdoT_Says) May 9, 2014 The mocking has yet to let up, but Carter isn’t going to let that silence her, taking a dig at the pop star and letting her know that she’s lost a fan.
“She don’t love her fans like she says she does,” she said.
