Grapevine: Andrew Garfield goes for new look in Arcade Fire video - The Detroit News

“The Amazing Spider-Man’s” Andrew Garfield ditches his Spidey suit and dons a wig and a dress in Arcade Fire’s new music video for the single “We Exist.” Garfield, who also starred in “The Social Network,” starts off the video by crying as he shaves his head, and then puts on articles of women’s clothing and heads out to a bar, where he is assaulted by a group of local tough guys. The song, from Arcade Fire’s latest album “Reflektor,” has been described by lead singer Win Butler as a conversation between a straight father and his gay son. The video contains footage of the band’s performance at last month’s Coachella festival.

Melissa McCarthy reveals 'crush' on Lena Dunham

Melissa McCarthy, who stars in the upcoming “Tammy,” tells the Advocate in its June/July issue her girl crush is “Girls” star Lena Dunham. “The more I watch ‘Girls,’ the more I realize I’m crazy about Lena Dunham,” McCarthy tells the magazine. “She’s smart, funny, confident, and she isn’t afraid to look awkward. She’s exactly who she is, take it or leave it. Nothing’s more charming than someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously.” McCarthy, 43, is married to actor Ben Falcone.

Ferrell, Smith to square off for charity

Celebrity lookalikes Will Ferrell and Chad Smith will participate in a drum-off on “The Tonight Show” next week. The challenge arose from a long-running joke that the comedic actor is actually the same person as the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer, due to their frighteningly similar looks. “We’re going to have a drum-off to see who the real Chad Smith is.” Smith, who hails from Bloomfield Hills, tells Rolling Stone: “I’m all for it. But unless Will’s been practicing or is secretly a crazy, wild drummer, I think it’ll be evident right off the bat who the real Chad Smith is. I’m ready to take him down.” Smith told Rolling Stone he hopes Ferrell has been practicing, which Ferrell categorically says he has not. “There’s no amount of practice that would help me become a good drummer,” Ferrell tells Rolling Stone. Fun and games aside, the challenge is helping raise money for two charities, Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock. Smith and Ferrell have raised more than $300,000 for the battle to occur, Rolling Stone reports.
