It's been two years since Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, moved her daughter Suri into a New York apartment and settled down as a single mum and speaking this week the actress claimed she didn't ever dwell on her time with the actor and was concentrating on her and Suri's future.
In a matter of months, Katie went from one half of a Hollywood power couple, to living a relatively quiet life in Manhattan. She enrolled Suri in a school, before she'd had a tutor and set about creating a "normal" life for her daughter, something she feels she's achieved.
During an appearance on the Today Show, as she promotes new movie 'The Giver' the former Mrs Cruise said: "I never really look back,"

"I just approach life one day at a time. I'm excited about where I am right now, this movie…I've had some really wonderful creative experiences. I am just excited about the future.”
Since becoming a single mum, Katie said she’s been relying on her family in Toledo, Ohio for help and guidance with Suri, as she makes an effort to shield the eight year-old from the spotlight.
"I think, of course, you try your best," she said of protecting her daughter from the spotlight, "I try very hard because I am very grateful for my upbringing and my parents and siblings. I try to do what they did for me for my little one."
"The most important thing for me is letting her know how proud I am and that her accomplishments mean everything," Holmes said.
"Whatever I do is whatever. It's really just about her and that's what I think is most important.”

The 35 year-old also said she was a “risk taker,” something we’ve seen recently after she posed topless on the cover of Glamour magazine.
But where will she head next? After making her name on Dawson's Creek, it seems she could be returning to the small screen.
"TV right now is a great place to tell stories," Katie admitted, "There are so many opportunities to tell any kind of story. You can now stream so much online that it's become a great medium for communicating to the masses."

But which show? It could well be Netflix's hit Orange Is The New Black. Katie admitted it was currently her favourite show and according to the producers of the hit show, Holmes was in the running to play Taylor Schilling's character Piper Chapman.
Creator Jenji Kohan said at a recent OITNB event in Los Angeles that they initially spoke to the brunette about the role, but that she didn’t have time for it: “[Katie] had other things to do. And also in the beginning, no one knew what this was.”
